For those who would like to make their trips to Kampot more meaningful, there are a number of organizations who would welcome volunteers.
A community tourism project in Prek Thnot located at the foot of the Elephant Mountains, for example, has the people weaving forest products. There is also an NGO caring for orphaned and abandoned children and teaching them traditional music, dance, and art. Founded by a London native, violinist Catherine Geach, in 1993 it also welcomes any form of support.
There are also organizations, like the Kampong Kreng School which teaches young students conversational English, which welcome volunteer teachers.
