Teuk Chhou Resort and Zoo

For those who would like to go on a picnic, there is a good area just 8km from the town of Kampot. The Teuk Chhou Resort on the banks of the Prek Chha River is popular with both foreign and local tourists, making it crowded during weekends and holidays.

The resort is a wonderful bathing spot with nice picnic areas where the river rapids are visible. People enjoy not only the views but the cool breeze from the river as well. Food is not a problem; there are many stalls in the area selling a variety of things to eat and drink. While most are local foods, there are some international dishes available as well.

Visitors with children can go to the nearby mini-zoo called the Teuk Chhou Zoo just 15 minutes from Kampot. The setting is a tropical fruit orchard, and it is the home of excotic birds and a variety of other animals here including lions, tigers, elephants, sun bears, otters, birds, snakes, and several species of monkeys. They also have a collection of modern Khmer landscape artwork.

The Teuk Chhou Zoo features different animals including tigers, elephants, monkeys of different species, snakes, deer, sun bears, otters and many more. This is a wonderful place to spend a fun filled afternoon with your family; children especially love the experience. The ticket for entry includes a small charge for those who want to drive their cars through the zoo. Entry includes access to the national park, and swimming in the clear water of Teuk Chhou River.

Cars or any other vehicle can be taken inside the zoo for an extra charge, and the tickets include entrance to the national park. Visitors who would like to swim in the Teuk Chhou River inside can do so. The latest report says the entrance costs US$5 for foreigners and 1000 Riel for local tourists.

To go to the Teuk Chhou Zoo and to the Resort, you can use any mode of transportation, from your own car or moto, to a hired moto or a tuktuk.
